The 4th locomotive turntable which was manufactured by MAQ was officially put into operation in Aprin railway station

 

The fourth locomotive turntable which was manufactured by MAQ was officially put into operation in Aprin railway station.The first three ones had been already operated in the stations of Mashhad, Malayer, and Arak.

 

The capacity of this turntable, 250 tons, its diameter, 30 meters, and its 360 degrees rotation positively affect its function to reduce the maneuver time of locomotives in railway stations.

 

Production of a locomotive turntable which designing, manufacturing, installing and commissioning of it all were done by MAQ for the first time in Iran proved the technical knowledge of this company and was a real hit for the railway industry, especially for the MAQ.

 

“The purchase of this plant from China costs 1,200,000 dollars, while its manufacture by MAQ in Iran has extremely reduced the cost.” said Mr. Bahramali, the general manager of rolling stock department of RAI, in opening ceremony of the first unit in Mashhad.

He added: “By using this turntable, shunting a locomotive takes 3 minutes, whereas it took 20 minutes to shunt before that and also it reduced the probability and possibility of train accidents.”
